A to Z April Blogging Challenge - E

For this year’s A-Z Challenge, I have chosen to
highlight some of the authors and their books, that
we, in our book club, have either read, as a group,

separately  or have been recommended by someone

in our on-line group.

E is for Edwards, Kim -  The Memory Keeper's Daughter

From  Amazon:
Kim Edwards’s stunning novel begins on a winter night in 1964 in Lexington, Kentucky, when a blizzard forces Dr. David Henry to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is perfectly healthy, but the doctor immediately recognizes that his daughter has Down syndrome. Rationalizing it as a need to protect Norah, his wife, he makes a split second decision that will alter all of their lives forever. He asks his nurse, Caroline, to take the baby away to an institution and never to reveal the secret. Instead, she disappears into another city to raise the child herself. So begins this beautifully told story that unfolds over a quarter of a century—in which these two families, ignorant of each other, are yet bound by the fateful decision made that winter night long ago.

A family drama, The Memory Keeper’s Daughter explores every mother's silent fear: What would happen if you lost your child and she grew up without you? It is also an astonishing tale of love and how the mysterious ties that hold a family together help us survive the heartache that occurs when long-buried secrets are finally uncovered.

We, at our monthly book club, really enjoyed this book. Each page held a new question or untold journey to keep us compelled to turn a new page to get the answers.
Have you read this book or any of the others presented in  my previous posts?
If so what did you think of them?

I would be remiss as we blog about the letter E, that the name of Ebert, Roger, is not mentioned. Sadly he lost his courageous battle with cancer yesterday. Although to my knowledge, not a published writer or author,  he was a prolific blogger, with a massive following. RIP Mr Ebert.

    1. Thanks baygirl,
It is haunting as is the story, but, not in a spooky way, but a way that you'll never forget.

    1. It is a sad story from a lot of angles, but a lot of love was shown by some and things worked out for the best.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. That was so nice of you to insert a tribute to Roger Ebert. I agree with the others that it was haunting, but not in a sci-fi way!
    Nice choice for "E"

  4. I read and loved that book! It was one of those that pulled me in just from the title, and from the moment he sends his daughter away, I was hooked in the tale.

I hadn't heard Roger Ebert died! How sad.
